Art on the Clothing
Strawberry Thief is one of William Morris's most popular repeating designs for textiles. It takes as its subject the thrushes that Morris found stealing fruit in his kitchen garden of his countryside home, Kelmscott Manor, in Oxfordshire. This clothing pays homage to William Morris (1834–1896). Morris was a British textile designer, poet, artist, novelist, architectural conservationist, printer, translator and socialist activist associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. He was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. Morris revived a number of extinct textile design techniques. His textiles designs emphasized on the ethos of artistic finesse and the natural world as the basis for his designs.
